The Bishop

The Bishop moves in diagonal lines, like a ( x ) cross sign, in one direction each turn,

  • diagonally forward to the right
  • diagonally forward to the left
  • diagonally backwards to the right or
  • diagonally backwards to the left

a Bishop can move as far as it likes and can stop on any square until it reaches the edge of the chess board.

A Bishop can only move across empty squares.
– If a square already has a piece of the same color on it, a Bishop cannot move to that square and cannot go past it. In the image below, the Bishop can move only to a green square. It cannot move to a red square.
