The Rook moves in straight lines, like a ( + ) plus sign, in one direction each turn,
- forward (up)
- backwards (down)
- to the Left ( <– ) or
- to the Right ( –> )
a Rook can move as far as it likes and can stop on any square until it reaches the edge of the chess board.

A Rook can only move across empty squares.
– If a square already has a piece of the same color on it, a Rook cannot move to that square and cannot go past it.
